We were informed by the residence of an apartment block in Reading that we manage that they had no water supply. We called the contractor responsible for the maintenance at the time who reported back that they could find the equipment! We contacted Pump Services (Camberley) Ltd who sent engineers to investigate the same day. They located the booster system in an underground chamber and ascertained that the pumps were totally blocked which to us confirmed that the previous contractor had not been carry out the servicing for which they were being paid. We instructed Pump Services to purchase and install two replacement pumps as a matter of urgency, which they did within 24 hours on a Saturday morning, much to the relief of the residence. We have since used Pump Services (Camberley) Ltd on a number of the site we manage and are extremely happy with the service they provide.

A large distribution warehouse in Southampton was experiencing problems with a pump station taking the storm water runoff from the loading bays. The main problem was that the security tags used on the containers were finding their way into the pump station causing blockages and subsequent failures. We recommended the installation of Mengin cutter pumps which could be adapted to fit onto the existing discharge stools. These units are capable of cutting the majority of foreign bodies into smaller manageable pieces which can then be pumped away. Following the installation the client reported a 75% drop in maintenance costs for this station. These Mengin units have been used at other sites were the ingress of foreign bodies, such as prisons, is a common and costly problem.

We were recently approached by a company providing water and waste water services to outdoor musical events, festivals and large social events. They were experiencing problems with their existing pumps, used to take waste water from catering trucks, in that they were blocking which resulted in spillage from the transfer containers. We proposed an alternative pump which was trialled at a recent event in Hyde Park and the result was not one occurrence of spillage or overflow. The second trial will take place at Clapham Common this weekend and we will report back on the results of this.

Following the commissioning of an independent audit of all the pump stations under our control, which are maintained by three separate term contractors, it was found that out of the ten visited, the only ones that were fully operational and operating correctly were the ones serviced and maintained by Pump Services (Camberley) Ltd. Coupled with the comments from the term contractor we are glad that Pump Services (Camberley) Ltd are on board and providing such a great service and that the other term contractors may learn a lesson from the audit.

A company specialising in providing water and waste water services for large festivals such as Glastonbury contacted Pump Services in an attempt to find an equivalent system to the one that they were hiring from a company in Europe. The result was that they purchased a number of Lowara DOMO packaged units fitted with DOMO GRI cutter pumps. On their first BIG trial at Glastonbury 2010 they catered for upwards of 60,000 revellers with not a single blockage. Since then the units have been used repeatedly at events up and down the country with no reported problems and even better for the client no blockages.
